Can A Job Be Fun?

Published by Jeremy under General, Business

I cannot remember the number of times I have heard someone complain about their job, or count down the days/hours/minutes until the weekend so they did not have to work. Unfortunately, that is how much of society is, and that is how many people feel today. Being that I have had very little job experience (only 3 different jobs as I am still in school), I hope that I do not find myself in that situation someday. Of course depending on someone’s motivating factors, it will definitely help pick their occupation. For instance, if someone wants the easy way out, they might take a job that pays less and requires less education. However, if someone just wants to make a ton of money, they will probably have to work more and put in more time and effort. Either way, I believe that any job can be fun if you look at it the right way.

How Can My Job Be Fun?

At times during work when I was mindlessly installing software for a number of hours (open CD-ROM, click yes 10 times, open CD-ROM, next computer), it was definitely hard to have fun. However, if you find ways to help pass the time, like listening to music, or even watching a movie, which I did both of, it can make your once tedious and boring job, seem like the best job ever. Not only are you completing your tasks, but you are enjoying your time, and… getting paid!

Realize that this is an example that many people will not have the opportunity to experience, but another great way to help pass the time, is do your best to enjoy your surroundings. Whether it be the people, atmosphere, or temperature, if you have comfortable, you will be happier. It is always great to get along with your co-workers, and be able to have a personal, or less than formal conversation as you are working.

My Job Is Boring - What Can I Do?

src: http://media.ford.com/newsroom/images/fordcom/08escape_boredom2.jpgI have also been in this situation, where you think that there is absolutely nothing to do, and you have already read the news, twice, and checked your emails every 13 seconds to see if someone, anyone, wants to talk to you. Instead of sitting there wasting your time, you can research something you enjoy, or try to learn something new. A great way to do that would be to install StumbleUpon and select your preferences. I have found endless amounts of information, and useful information at that, on SU. The great thing about it, is the vastness of information that is available. Not only can you select to surf comics, but you can also find gardening at the same time. Whatever it may be, you can be doing something that will help you pass the time. Another thing you could do, is find someone to help. Whether they need help cleaning their workspace, moving a table, or if they are bored as well, it is usually better to be bored with someone than by yourself.
I Hate Work!

If you hate your job so much, then search for a new one. I completely understand that under certain circumstances this is a lot easier said than done, but be proactive. Do not simply submit your resume to monster.com and sit back and think you did something. Search the local papers, the yellow pages, online, go into places you might be interested in working and make new contacts. Network. If you are proactive, I can guarantee you will be more likely to find a job than if you sit around and wait.

Well, those are just a few ideas I can think of to help you. Attitude is everything. If you think the glass is half empty, then the glass is half empty. Try to believe that the glass is half full.

Finally… Everything is Setup

Published by Jeremy under Business

Well everyone, after long hours of continuous troubleshooting, and various hardware testing, I finally have a working system again! It turns out that Vista x64 cannot run with 4gb or ram, so I spent upwards of 10 hours installing/reinstalling the operating system to no avail. Either way, the new computer is a beast and I love it. As previously mentioned, everything was purchased through Newegg online, but I won’t burden you with a piece by piece inventory list of what I have. However, If you would like to know, I would be happy to supply you with the list.

Here’s a picture of the final product, I am very happy with how it turned out.

Of course, after building it, there were still frustrations, but everything is good to go now… (knocks on wood).

With that, I will be back in the next day or two with some great content. Still finalizing all of my bookmarks and passwords (please remember to backup EVERYTHING if you install a new computer, or even re-format). I only had a few hundred bookmarks and about the same number of passwords, but I cannot imagine if I had more than that. I would go insane!

Have a great day everyone.

I’m Back… Almost!

Published by Jeremy under General

Well, I received the bulk of my new computer today, aside from the case as it was shipped from a different location. I ordered all of it from Newegg, and I have never had problems with their service or products in the past. Aside from that, there is one error I made as I was excited and ordering all too quickly. My chipset fan I decided to order does not fit my motherboard, socket AM2. Unfortunately, I will have to wait a few more days to get final pictures of the setup as I need to wait for the new fan. Either way, I have a picture of some of the stuff I have received today, and I will provide specs after it is built. I am very excited, and it should make blogging a little easier on a better setup!

One of the things I am excited to try, is the new Lightscribe burner. You can see a picture of it below, and I was able to purchase the burner, 30 DVDs, and 30 CDs for less than $70! Great deals going on at Newegg!

Also, sorry about the poor image blending, I do not have Photoshop installed yet, but I promise everything will be back to normal when the new setup is up and running!

Also, I have some great announcements and some interesting offers to hopefully intrigue many of my readers to partake other opportunities that are currently going on. These include but are not limited to my 50G for Charity idea, and also Online Cash Clicks.
Have a great day everyone.

Online Cash Flow - New Setup

Published by Jeremy under General, Business

I just ordered a brand new setup (computer) and it is a beast! When everything comes I will get some pictures and specs up, but for now, my current setup has bad memory. I am sorry, yet again, but please be patient as I remedy this situation.

Don’t F*** With Google

Published by Jeremy under General, Business, Advertising

Well, after a small incident on my part, I have been banned from using Google AdWords… for life. After lengthy discussion on a few message boards about the incident, and numerous contacts to customer support, it finally blossomed on what it was that I did to allegedly deserve this banning. (Note: sorry about some of the language in here… I am venting).

First of all, Google’s customer service is filled with a bunch of mindless robots who do not do a damn thing to help resolve an issue (at least the 5+ people I talked to couldn’t). I’ll explain what I did wrong at the end, and it truly was an extremely trivial problem.

Customer Service Discussions

Jeremy: I have no idea why. I was under the assumption that you are allowed to have multiple AdWords accounts as long as they are linked through a Client Account and are not promoting the same general keywords/offers. If that is not the case, then that is the only thing I can think of
Ryan V: I have reviewed your recent email and chat discussions, and I can confirm that a team of AdWords specialists reviewed your account and found that you violated our terms and conditions. I cannot elaborate beyond what has already been communicated to you.

Thanks Ryan, glad I can count on you! It gets better…

Jeremy: So, would I get in trouble if I created a new account? The only thing is I have 3 different AdWords accounts AND NONE are working
Ryan V: I understand. Since these accounts are suspended you will no longer be able to advertise with Google AdWords.
Jeremy: WHAT
Jeremy: There is NOTHING I can do to be reinstated? This is RIDICULOUS! I don’t even know what I did wrong!
Ryan V: I understand, however I suggest reviewing our terms and conditions at the following link, https://adwordssux.google.com/select/tsandcsfinder for further insight.

I understand banning my current accounts, but to kick me out for life? Give me a break guys…

Ryan V: We thank you again for your understanding and compliance with this decision.
Ryan V: Have a nice day.
Jeremy: I’m not in compliance
Jeremy: I’m 100% confused

That is the most annoying response ever. “Thank you for your cooperation” or “thank you for understanding.” I’M NOT COOPERATING!

So, I start a new customer service conversation with Jessica.

Jeremy: I am banned for life?
Jessica C: I can’t comment any more Jeremy.
Jeremy: Why not? I don’t understand……………
Jessica C: We aren’t authorized to do so.
Jeremy
: You aren’t authorized to answer my questions?
Jeremy: If you are working around my question about being banned for life, then that leads me to believe that if I create a new account in compliance with the terms, I should be alright?
Jessica C: I can’t comment any further Jeremy.
Jessica C: This conversation isn’t being very productive.

Thanks again, I love that you guys can consult my problems! After she explained that we weren’t being productive, she cut me out… I guess she didn’t like that I was being a smartass at that point.

What Happened?

Originally, after consulting the terms and services numerous times, I figured I was banned for opening multiple accounts. However, I did not do it all under my name and with my credit card. I used a gift card that a friend gave me, but used my address, so I figured they thought I was stealing credit cards or something. However, I do not believe that is the underlying reason.

The only reason I tried to open a new account, is because I got a free advertising voucher for opening a new hosting account, and I wanted to use my money. So, I opened a new account and used the voucher. That’s what I did to get banned from advertising… for life. Maybe I’m being irrational, but I definitely don’t agree with that at all. I can understand banning my current accounts and taking the vouchers (which happened anyways), but why stop me from actually paying them advertising dollars in the future?

On top of that, they have the nerve to display this image on my control panel:

Hey dumbshits… I’m banned.

To anyone I have not talked to in the Google customer service department, have yourselves a great weekend. If you are in the Google customer service department… you suck.

Online Cash Flow: November Income

Published by Jeremy under Make Money, Blogging

As I predicted yesterday, income numbers have dropped since October, and November. As I saw growth from October to November, I was unable to sustain the same level of growth. I can attribute a few reasons to this, but I expected this drop in income as I did not spend as much time maintaining my blog as I could/should have. Either way, I wrote yesterday about persistence as the key to success, and even if you “fail” to put up better numbers from month to month, keep going at it and you will be rewarded in the end.

The first month I actually recorded online income for this blog was in September, and I was relatively happy with a $631 month. However, in October I recorded an income level of $866, and was very pleased with the drastic improvement. But, that extreme growth rate concluded there… here they are, November’s numbers.

Online Cash Flow: The Numbers

  • Affiliate Sales: $350.17
  • AdSense: $30.38
  • Free Offers: $42.15
  • Other: $100
  • TOTAL: $522.70

As I said, although my income level was nearly cut in half, that only goes to show that if you do not maintain what you have, it will quickly be lost. I failed to maintain my content level, and traffic suffered. Therefore, so did income. Aside from that, AdSense has been doing a little better, and I have got a few new opportunities off the ground which I hope will prove to be great successes.

I have been meaning to publish a great post on the benefits of developing relationships, whether you are a blogger, an affiliate marketer, or a general business person. I will get around to finishing that post in the next day or two and post it. I think it will be a great tool to help everyone, including myself.

Have a great day all!

Persistence: The Key To Success

Published by Jeremy under General, Business

Sorry about the lack of posts lately everyone. I have been trying to develop 50G for Charity as quickly as possible so it would be fully functional before the holiday season. I know many people like to contribute during that time, so I figured if they could increase exposure as well as contributing to society, it would greatly benefit everyone. Either way, here is some new content for you.

As I see some of my online business ideas, I notice that some are not thriving as I would have hoped. However, the key to being successful in almost any area, is persistence. If you have drive to be successful, you will most likely eventually achieve it. Of course, goal setting plays a large part in that, and setting achievable goals can be extremely beneficial. Aside from that, I would like to touch base on a few things that distinctly show how persistence pays off.

Truth In Numbers

If you are analytical (as I am), you are intrigued by numbers, and more importantly, increasing numbers. If you start out making $1 a day, and eventually you are making $10 per day, that may seem trivial, but that is a growth rate of 1000%. That is insane in many industries, but very achievable in the blogging area.

Way back in June I wrote about what social bookmarking rankings mean to you. Within that post, you would notice that I supplied this image (6/10/2007: 98 links, 50,000 ranking):

Not bad for being online a very short time. However, I believe that you should never settle and always strive to achieve greater successes. Here is my screen shot from yesterday (12/3/2007: 212 links, 27,000 ranking):

In a matter of 6 months, I was able to achieve (what is to many) 200% success on one network. As I said before, if you are a numbers person, this can be very encouraging to you.

Traffic Growth

Another figure that shows growth even better than Technorati ranking, is unique visitors each month. You will notice that from August to September, and then September to November, traffic nearly doubled each month. This may happen from various things, but without great content and perseverance to succeed, such successes are very hard to achieve. One thing that you may notice, and it reflects what has been going on here… Near the end of November, content creation at Online Cash Flow declined and was few and far between. Due to that, traffic figures declined as well.

Another thing I just realized as I am staring at this graph, is that it looks a lot like my traffic statistics are flipping me off! Sorry December, I will do my best to increase you.

Also, you may have seen my income figures for October, or September’s numbers, but what you should realize is that growth occurred. Of course it will not happen each month (I have not compiled November’s numbers yet, but be ready for that post), but if you decline in earnings you must not be discouraged. There are many factors that play a role in online earnings, and you may even see a decrease in traffic around the holidays as people are spending more time out of town or with their families than they are around their computers.

Again, just realize the power of exponential growth and how it can largely benefit your online businesses or blogs. Any growth is good growth, so do your best to achieve forward progress each month.

Overall

I am looking forward to a busy holiday season, and was wondering what my readers would think of an Online Cash Flow redesign? I have a few ideas in mind, and one of them contains 4 advertising slots (125×125). I was thinking of offering these as low as $5-10 per month, but nobody’s interest has been set it stone. Either way, I am looking for a change around here, so be prepared for something interesting coming up!

Have a great day everyone.
