20/20 Hindsight

Published by OnlineCash at 9:00 am under Blogging

As I was reading through various blogs, I came across a very interesting article written by Darren Rowse. In his article, What Do You Know Now About Blogging That You Wish You Knew When You Started, he questions his readers to explain what they would have changed or done differently if they could restart. I was very intrigued by this article and it sparked a lot of thought within my mind. Hence the title of my post, hindsight is always crystal clear. There are many different things I have experienced through blogging, and he explains a majority of them here.

Perhaps it’s some method of finding traffic, perhaps it’s about your writing style, it could be more about how you interact with readers, maybe it could even be something to do with a blogging tool that you’ve discovered or it could even be that you wish you’d never started.

Most of those ideas hold true. I have been searching for various traffic sources, tweaking my writing style here and there, increased my interaction with readers, and used a variety of blogging tools. However, I am extremely glad that I started blogging, and if I could change one thing…

Well Darren, if I was able to change one thing about blogging, it would be that I started blogging sooner. Knowing that I enjoyed writing and teaching those who were actually interested in learning what I was teaching, blogging is the perfect way to portray information to a targeted group of people. In my opinion, if you are able to teach somebody something that you have learned, either from experience or previous mistakes you have made and then learned from, it is a very satisfying experience. Especially if somebody is seeking direct advice, there is nothing more pleasing that being able to solve someone’s problem or help them learn something they care about.

Going along with that, if I had started blogging sooner, I imagine I would be a lot more knowledgeable about blogging in general, and therefore be able to help other people begin or increase their blogging knowledge. Granted, I still have a lot to learn, but the amount of knowledge I have retained in the few months I have been blogging is immense. I feel like I have been at this for years. I can only imagine how much else I will learn and experience as time goes on and I continue writing on my blog.

Feel free to comment here or check out Darren’s post about what your experiences are. Whether you are yet to begin a blog, or have been blogging for years, what do you think?

Good point. I feel like I have wasted 2 years, too. ;-)

    Hi There,

It is never too late to start .For learning is a lifelong process. There will be always new things to learn till the day we enter the grave..keke! It is not about early or late but it is about you, your interest and your motives. A late comer may learn more things than an earlier person because the late comer has got the zeal and the drive to search for the newer things and his learning curve maybe perpendicular rather than a slow up slope or flattish.
If you had blogged earlier , you may not have that advanced technology or information . So everyone is equal as new information is being produced everyday.

It is not about how much you know ,but how you apply those knowledge that you have in your everyday life that counts.

    Hi Flochakh,

Nothing is ever wasted, it is only unused but someday in the future ,those you acquired or learnt will be relevant.Experience is always a good teacher.
