3 Essential Reasons Why You Need To Use AdSense Channels
Before I created Online Cash Flow, I never thought of using channels. This is because I had one blog, and did not track my traffic very extensively. However, now that I have realized the importance of knowing your traffic and what is producing, I cannot believe I did not do this before. I will explain how I use channels, and how beneficial they can be to any blogger, whether you have one blog, or multiples.
What Are They And How Do I Do It?
AdSense channels are an easy way to keep everything organized. They are very easy to setup, and you can see below exactly where you need to be. All you have to do is get into your AdSense dashboard, and then navigate your way to the Channels tab.
AdSense channels are essential, and you will soon understand why.
1. Singular Importance
For those who have one blog, the use of channels can be vital in many different ways. First of all, you can track each individual advertisement blog and see how well it is performing from impressions to earnings. As you can see below, I have broken down my channels into the various blocks, and it is very easy to keep track of how each ad code is performing.
When I first started blogging, I was not really intrigued by the performance of my advertisements, I was just interested in seeing the earnings. However, it is hard to improve something when you are unsure of what is not working properly. If you notice a certain advertisement is receiving a large amount of impressions, but is not getting any clicks continuously, that could be a sign that you should remove that ad from your site. Either it is poorly blended, or set in a bad location, but that way you can understand what you can maneuver and essentially how you can maximize your income using AdSense.
2. Multiple Necessity
After understanding the importance if you only run one website, imagine if you had multiple sites with advertisements. As you all may know, you can run the same AdSense account advertisements on multiple blogs. When doing this, I would 100% recommend using channels so you know where your advertisements are being shown, and what is getting clicked on. If you are getting massive clicks from one website, you might want to take into consideration how you set those ads up, and try to do something similar.
Does It Get Easier?
Yes it does. In order to properly and efficiently implement these advertisements to your posts, I would recommend using the same plugin I have been using. AdSense Deluxe is a great plugin, and it is very easy to setup. I prefer to keep everything organized, so I have named the plugin blocks the same names as the channels. However, you can set it up in whichever way you prefer. Another great thing I learned, is the ability to wrap the text around the advertisement. In order to do this, you must include a table. I have provided the HTML code I use to implement ads, so that the text can be wrapped and everything fits very nicely.
<table align=”right”>
<tr>
<td><!–ADSENSE–></td>
</tr>
</table>
As you can see, I have chosen to right align my advertisements, and you can place this code anywhere you want for your ads to appear. Also, you can change the alignment, and mess around with the other settings to fully optimize your ad placement.
Wrap It Up
If you do not already, I would recommend using channels. It is never too late to start, and you can begin tracking your income down to the ad block as soon as you set these channels up.
3. Essential Note: If you already have AdSense code and you create channels, the ad blocks WILL NOT automatically bind to these channels. For instance, you have a 250×250 ad block on your site. You create a channel for these 250×250 ad blocks and think everything is golden. Incorrect. You must go through the advertisement walk through again and copy the new code which will have a line of text that is similar to: google_ad_channel = “0324205531″; - This line of text is what assures you that the statistics are being tracked directly to the channel you have chosen. I figured I would throw that in, because I made the same mistake when I first started using channels. AdSense channels are one of the quickest and easiest ways to track your earnings. If you are not using them currently, I would recommend setting them up. Easy to use, and more beneficial than you can imagine.
