Maximize Online Income: Carnival Style

Published by OnlineCash under Miscellaneous

Recently I have read about how blog carnivals can do great things for your traffic. Not only have I noticed a variety of bloggers using carnivals to their advantage, but some of the articles within these carnivals have been extremely well written and provided a lot of useful information. I had not heard about blog carnivals until I had been blogging for a couple weeks. My first experience came when I was reading an article by Steve Pavlina. He explains how beneficial blog carnivals were for his website:

In my early traffic-building days, I’d do carnivals submissions once a week, and it helped a great deal in going from nothing to about 50,000 visitors per month. You still have to produce great content, but carnivals give you a free shot at marketing your unknown blog.

With numbers like those it seems very difficult to pass up. On top of that, it is completely free to do. Therefore, I have decided to create a blogging carnival with the title Maximize Online Income.

Take a look and feel free to submit your own articles. The first edition of Maximize Online Income is set to be published on June 23, with all submissions due by June 22.

I am hoping to accomplish a few things with this carnival. If I can increase my blog traffic, compile a list of articles that provide interesting and relevant content to help readers maximize online income, and meet a few new bloggers, I will feel as though it has been a success. We will see what happens in the next couple weeks.

Sometimes it would be nice to just sit on the couch for a few hours and not have to worry about getting up to rehydrate. Now you can. I saw this video a few weeks ago and thought I would share it with you all. Enjoy!

Get Your Site Reviewed

Published by OnlineCash under Miscellaneous, Advertising

I was recently approved by both SponsoredReviews.com and PayPerPost Direct to do website reviews. If you are interested, you can find the button on the sidebar and purchase a review for $25.

The good thing about these reviews is that they are permanent. While advertising with either a text ad or a banner ad would drive traffic to your site during the month (or however long your campaign is scheduled) you have signed up for, a sponsored review would be permanently published here and would provide you with a steady stream of traffic.

As I posted before, once traffic increases, so do advertising costs. However, if you were to buy a review now, it would stay posted here at Online Cash Flow even as review prices double or triple. Direct reviews are one of the easiest ways to generate traffic to your website. Sign up now to increase your traffic.

AdSense Discrepancy

Published by OnlineCash under Miscellaneous, Advertising

I noticed that AdSense advertisements were being blocked on a few of my pages and posts. I did a little research and found out that my server host did not create the proper file in my root directory.

You can check if you are having problems as well if you go to your AdSense Reports, and then look at your Site Diagnostics. Here you will find a list of blocked URLs and the reason as to why the URL was blocked. As you can see, none of the pages on my blog have a reason for their blockage.

In order to resolve this issue, you need to create a text file named: robots.txt and place it in the root directory of your website. The following text must be in the file:

User-agent: Mediapartners-Google*
Disallow:

After these steps, your AdSense advertisements should display properly throughout your website, given you follow the other terms of service.

Testing New Feature

Published by OnlineCash under Miscellaneous

As I have not been getting a great deal of comments, I have implemented a new feature. I have put up the Top Commentators plugin on the sidebar to see if that will increase user comments at all.

If nothing else, commenting will provide you with a free, permanent linkback from Online Cash Flow.

When something is not working as planned, you must make changes and tweaks to see what will shape the results more towards your liking. It is pretty neat how all of these same ideas tie together with life and blogging. Enjoy, and happy commenting for a linkback.

100 Oldest Currently Registered Domain Names

Published by OnlineCash under Miscellaneous

As I have been becoming more accustomed to how StumbleUpon works, I have been doing some stumbling. While stumbling, I have come across some pretty interesting websites and blogs. One of which, was a list of the 100 oldest currently registered domain names.

Personally, I think it is extremely interesting that there are 3 domains that have been registered for over 22 years!

1. 15-Mar-1985 SYMBOLICS.COM
2. 24-Apr-1985 BBN.COM
3. 24-May-1985 THINK.COM

It’s just weird to think 22 years into the future. Just imagine how much the domain www.think.com would sell for now. If Online Cash Flow is still around in 2029, then there must have been a great deal of success. I can only hope.

New Features and Pages

Published by OnlineCash under Miscellaneous

Personally, I have found it to be much more efficient to contact somebody when they had a form instead of listing their email address. Therefore, I have taken it upon myself to implement a contact form, thanks to Doug Karr. With his plugin, my Contact page now has a form instead of a few email links.

Along with the new Contact form, I have been working on compiling a list of the sites I use to make money. It will take a few days to organize it, but once it is done you can be sure to find a post here, and an updated list here.

Another positive note, traffic hit an all time high yesterday, May 29, 2007. The numbers were over 200% higher than the previous daily total. As explained in my advertise with Online Cash Flow post, these numbers are steadily increasing, and I will leave it up to you to decide if $10 a month is worth it. Here is a quick example before I finish:

If you were to purchase a 12 month block of Text Advertising right now, it would cost you $120 and your link would be safe and sound for 12 months. However, if traffic continues to increase at the levels I am seeing, the same Text Advertising spots might double or triple in value. The same spots which you could have purchased now for $120, may just increase to $240 or $360 per year.

I figured a little scenario is always good to help explain things a little better. Obviously I will not keep raising prices up if nobody is buying them, but when traffic comes, so do buyers.

Winamp Sound Settings

Published by OnlineCash under Miscellaneous

When blogging, I definitely need to listen to some music. Some people use iTunes, but I’ve been a Winamp guy for years now. As of late I haven’t had any problems with it, but a few weeks ago I came across a huge discrepancy. The sound settings for Winamp is not like adjusting your speakers.

Winamp Sound Settings

When you adjust the sound settings on Winamp, it adjusts your system sound settings as seen below. The thing is if you adjust the sound on your Winamp player, they only stay until the current song is over, and then they go back to the default settings. I suggest you turn your system volume all the way up, as well as the Winamp settings, and adjust your sound with your speakers. If you cannot adjust your settings with speakers, then only adjust your sound using your system settings.

I had more trouble than I can remember with this problem before I figured it out. I hope somebody can learn from my experiences. Enjoy!

I recently came across Viralink and I have weighed the pros and cons. I believe it will be beneficial to those who use it. I got an email from a fellow blogger, Andy Coates, and he presented me with this opportunity. I have decided to take it.

Below is a matrix of 120 stars, I have already added a link to my blog onto one of the stars, all you need to do is copy and paste the grid into your blog and add your own link to one of the other spare stars, and tell others to do the same!
