Digg vs. StumbleUpon (Round 2)

Published by OnlineCash at 6:26 pm under Traffic

Previously, I was a little naive as to how StumbleUpon worked. It wasn’t until this afternoon that I realized StumbleUpon’s full potential. Fortunately, I was not too harsh when I wrote the first post regarding Digg vs. StumbleUpon.

I would like to re-state my standing here with these two social networking websites. I am extremely happy to be using both of them, as they are both generating a decent amount of traffic to Online Cash Flow. The main reason as to why I was having trouble with StumbleUpon before, is because the toolbar was not active. An inactive SU toolbar is like trying to drive a car without gas. Good luck with that.

Anyways, I would highly recommend both Digg and StumbleUpon to anybody who wishes to generate traffic to their websites. Many people reading this are from either Digg or StumbleUpon, so you all know the importance of these websites.

StumbleUpon has always brought in more traffic than Digg to my site by a 3 and sometimes 4 to 1 ratio over Digg.

And the cool thing is, I’m still not real sure how StumbleUpon works! I do have the tool bar installed on my Firefox browser and give good pages a thumbs up.

You think I should visit the Microsoft page and give them a “thumbs down?”

Haha Don. That would be funny. I was thinking about that too. I’m not entirely sure how the rating system works, but I think pages tagged as “thumbs up” are given higher priority. I could be wrong though.

I get roughly 10 times the traffic from stumble than from Digg. Google just bought ‘em though, so changes may be afoot. The stumble traffic is more of a gently spike also - 2 or 3 days, not just an hour.

I have realized the same thing. Traffic spikes are great and an interesting way to see your increases, but personally I would much rather have a larger, steady traffic flow than a spike and dip traffic outcome.

    Hi,
You should not only use digg.com but also other social bookmarking websites like netscape.com and http://www.npgb.org
