I have written extensively about the importance of content and how writing purposeful content is great for your blog and your blog’s reputation. However, I would like to add a few interesting points that explain in a little more depth just how important this content is.

Building Your Reputation

If you consistently produce content within your niche, and it is informative and original, people will return to your blog and realize that you are one of a kind and can write without stealing others ideas. On the same hand, if you copy content, whether it be layout, images, or posts people will frown upon your blog and your content will be flagged with a bad reputation. In the online world, reputation is everything. If you are known as someone who plagiarizes, you will have a very hard time persuading your audience to continue reading your material.

Increasing Authority

As a blogger, your goal is to become well known within your niche. Whether you do this by consistently producing purposeful content, or increasing your authority throughout the blogosphere, your authority is very meaningful to readers. People would rather read MLB.com than JoeKnowsBaseball.com for the most recent baseball news. This is an extreme case, but you want to be known as somebody who can produce meaningful content and you want to be known as a website where people can learn information.

Make Your Site A “Must See”

A great way to gain the importance of a “must see” site, is for you to continuously post content that is relevant to your niche. If your content is up to date and posted consistently, your readers will continue to read day in and day out as they too want to be informed of the most updated information within your blogging category. You need to incorporate multiple aspects of a must see blog in order for people to want to read each day.

Additional Information

Interesting design, new features, and a good layout are all ways to keep your readers satisfied. When you return to a blog and notice new things, do these things not make you wonder what is coming the next day or week?
