Think Outside The Box To Increase Traffic

Published by OnlineCash at 4:10 pm under Traffic, SEO

It seems that everywhere I look people are always trying to increase traffic. I can attest to this myself as well, because increased traffic can only lead to bigger and better things. Anyways, as people attempt to increase their traffic, they tend to only market to a select group of people. In the short time I have been involved with my blog (just over 3 weeks now) I have seen an increase in traffic due to the variety of marketing.

To start, I was only marketing on Yahoo Search Marketing. I wrote a post about how that can help increase your traffic and revenue, and it has. However, I have since taken up trying to increase my links with other bloggers, marketing towards social networks such as Facebook, and even telling people by word of mouth.

Why Market To Social Networks?

Like advertising elsewhere, social networks provide a lot of traffic. Whether people are looking for your website or not, many times you will gain traffic. On top of an increase in traffic, this is free traffic. Of course traffic is good, but free traffic is even better. As I explained earlier, traffic is the gateway to success, so do everything you can to increase these numbers.

How Do You Get Linked With Other Bloggers?

Unfortunately, this is one of the most difficult ways to generate traffic. Not because you do not get traffic from other bloggers, but because exchanging links can take time. Unless you wish to buy advertising on a fellow blogger’s blog, you will need to establish yourself as somebody who provides original content on a consistent basis. Once you can prove that you mean business, exchanging links is as easy as copy and paste.

What About Word Of Mouth Traffic?

Word of mouth traffic is many times the most targeted traffic you can get. If you know somebody who is interested in your topic, it will be extremely easy to interest them in your blog. Fortunately, people with similar interests tend to hang out together, which means that the traffic you gained from them will become a long link of highly targeted traffic.

Overview

If you are not a member of any social networks, they are easy and free to join. You can then add friends and explain to them what you are doing and why you are doing it. If you spam, you will most likely be banned, so I would strongly recommend to not do that. Increasing your links with fellow bloggers is easy too, as long as you establish yourself and be patient. If you are unsure of any people interested in your topic, you can create fliers and post them at a local grocery store or the library. If you can create an eye-catching flier, you are bound to attract some new traffic.

I’ve never actually used social sites like Myspace or Facebook to advertise my blog. I’ve always thought it would be extra work that would lead to little benefit. How would you go about running a Myspace page about your blog? Post your articles in Myspace as well as your own website?

Yeah. Name your Myspace something similar to your blog, and make sure you have ample links within your page. Include other aspects of your site on Myspace and add friends until you have a decent amount. Then you can post bulletins and/or write comments on others’ pages. Just make sure you do not spam, or you will lose friends and/or be banned from Myspace. I learned that the hard way! ;)
